The Mayor of Ireland has awarded the prestigious Dublin Man of the Year to Katsina state Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Shema.
The state commissioner of commerce, Alhaji Abdullahi Abdulmumini who received the award on behalf of the governor during an investment visit to Dublin by the state delegation, said the award was given to
the governor for his contribution to commercial development.
He noted that the visit to the Ireland was under the ‘Invest Nigeria Ireland Dublin’ which was meant to promote economic and commerce between Nigeria and Ireland.
Abdulmumini said during the visit, the Mayor has acknowledged the various contributions of Governor Shema in the development of commerce in the state, through the establishment of international border markets across the state.
The commissioner similarly added that the Mayor also salutes the courage of the governor in taking initiatives that promote peace and peaceful co-existence in Katsina state, which according to him “encourage investment in the state”.
Receiving the award, Governor Shema attributed the award to the help of God and his aides that contributed a lot in actualizing his vision for the state, which he said, translated into the many developments witnessed in the state.
He therefore promised to do more to ensure that the development of the state was sustained to attract foreign direct investments.
