As part of an effort towards promoting sustainable development and ensuring environmental protection, the governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Uba Sani has approved the Kaduna State climate change policy.
The policy is a step towards positioning Kaduna State as a leading sub-national entity in the fight against climate change and ensuring a strategic commitment towards reducing carbon footprint and enhancing climate resilience.
In a statement, Mr. Yusuf Idris Amoke, the Special Assistant to Governor Uba Sani on Climate Change, highlighted that the policy was developed by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
It said the policy included a comprehensive framework and promotes sustainable practices across sectors such as; agriculture, energy, transportation and waste management.
It added that the policy is aimed at integrating climate considerations into the state’s development planning processes, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance resilience, and ensure environmental sustainability.
