Gov Yusuf releases N4.8bn for schools renovation, construction of classrooms in Kano

…Engages 17, 600 guards to safeguard students, school infrastructure

To enhance quality education across the state, the Kano state government has disbursed cheques to the tune over N1.9 billion to the Chairmen of the Community Re-orientation Committee (CRC) for renovation of primary school classrooms in all 44 local government areas.
The Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf also set aside the sum of N2.09b two billion for the construction of additional classrooms in public primary schools across the state.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s spokesman, Sanusi Bature also said to improve security of students and safeguard public educational facilities, the state has also initiated the immediate employment of 17,600 security guards, with a minimum of 400 guards allocated to each local government areas to protect public schools.
Barure further revealed that the significant investment in the education sector reflects Governor Yusuf’s unwavering commitment to realizing his vision of declaring a state of emergency in the education system.
He added that the Governor at a meeting with CRC chairmen at the Government House emphasized that investing in education is a pivotal step towards ensuring that quality education is accessible to every child of school age in Kano.
Acknowledging the vital role played by CRCs in fostering social integration and enhancing enrollment and attendance rates in schools, Governor Yusuf reiterated the government’s pledge to empower community leaders to take ownership of the education system and protect public infrastructure.
He called upon the CRC committees to collaborate closely with stakeholders within their jurisdictions and seek guidance from the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for technical support in project implementation.
