Borno state Governor Kashim Shettima has emerged winner in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Borno central senatorial district.
The election was held Wednesday night at the at El-Kanemi Sports Centre, Maiduguri.
Announcing the result on Thursday, Chairman of party’s primary election committee, Ahmad El-Marzuk said Shettima scored 2,735 votes against Alhaji Ali Wurge who got five votes.
El-Marzuk noted that Shettima has fulfilled the conditions of APC flag bearer to contest the senatorial election.
According to him, the election was credible peaceful free and fair.
In his acceptance speech, Shettima promised to offer services for the interest of the people.
“With my emergence as the candidate for the senatorial election Borno central, if emerge victorious in the 2019 elections, will do my best to protect, promote, and preserve the interests of my constituents in the at all levels,” he said.
Shettima said with his seven-year experience as governor, all efforts will be intensified to continue moving the zone and the state forward.
