Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has reiterated the pivotal role of religious leaders in maintaining peace in the state. Speaking at an interactive session with religious and traditional rulers in Kaduna,

Governor Sani credited the state’s peaceful coexistence to the invaluable contributions of spiritual leaders.

He lamented that politicians often forget the importance of religious leaders after elections, only remembering them during campaign seasons.

He emphasized that religious leaders are crucial stakeholders in the country’s development and should be engaged beyond election periods.

Governor Sani highlighted the success of the Kaduna Peace Model, which emphasizes a non-kinetic approach to security.

He attributed the model’s success to the synergy between four key stakeholders: religious leaders, traditional leaders, communities, and security officials.

The Governor noted that rebuilding trust and engaging stakeholders is essential in addressing security challenges.

Governor Sani cited the state’s security achievements, including the ability of people to travel to Birnin Gwari without fear. He, however, decried the actions of some politicians who conspired to smear the reputations of religious leaders on social media.

Uba Sani emphasized the importance of respecting religious leaders, stating that allowing them to be insulted or condemned unnecessarily would undermine the country’s stability. He noted that during difficult times, citizens often turn to religious leaders for prayers and guidance.
