To help people cope with the prevailing harsh economic realities, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) through the Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA) has taken its Financial Literacy and Inclusion Awareness Campaigns to the grassroots to ensure that the message gets to the nooks and crannies of the Territory.
It was gathered that the sensitization team was in Bwari Township and Dutse Market in Bwari Area Council for the initiative,as a follow up to the flag-off which took place a fortnight ago.
According to the AEA’s, Mr. Chudi Ugwuada-Ezirigwe, who lauded the partnership between the Agency and the Bwari Area Council, noted that the partnership will go a long in eradicating poverty and bringing financial literacy and independence to the ordinary people of the area
Ugwuada-Ezirigwe, who was represented at the occasion by the Manager, Partnerships and Strategy, Usman Isiaka Usman, said the Campaign, which started in Dutse up to Bwari is to ensure that a larger chunk of the population benefited from the initiative as a way of encouragement.
He reiterated that it is to boost the growth of businesses in the Territory through the rural transformation initiatives of the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.
He encouraged them to make the best use of the sensitization to expand their businesses and support their families for a more prosperous FCT.
It would be recalled that earlier last week, the team took the sensitization / campaign to Wuse and Nyanya Markets in Abuja Municipal Area Council.
On his part, the Bwari Area Council Chairman, John Gabaya, represented by the Ag. Director of Administration at the Council, Isah Musa Yerima, said the Financial Literacy and Inclusion Awareness Campaign was a good initiative of the AEA due to the challenges faced by people in the rural areas.
He noted most often those who ventured into entrepreneurship had their dreams shattered due to ignorance.
“One of the challenges the local people you see here have is that they squander the initial capital for every business venture they go into.
The sensitization is timely at a time like this, especially now that the harvesting period is at hand and if they use the income they will realize from their farms, it will be of help to them”, he restated.
