Gov’t will support SMEs to upgrade facilities– Agric Minister

The Minister of Agric and Rural Development, Adewumi Adesina has reiterated that the government will make funds available to support Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs (SMEs) to upgrade their facilities.

He was speaking at the commissioning of OAMSAL High Quality Cassava Flour Processing factory at Ayede –Ekiti, in Ekiti State, recently,

A statement read by Director of Information in the ministry, Tony Ohaeri, Adesina said 35 SMEs would get one million Naira each from the Cassava Bread Funds to be released by the Bank of Industry (BoI), to enable them achieve entrepreneurial optimum performance.

Dr. Adesina, who stated that government has started working on a 5, 000 hectares of land, said over 400 hectares have been located in Ekiti state.

Commending Nobex, a company producing locally fabricated equipment at the Processing plant, the Minister emphasized the need to create market for everything we produce saying that the future of Nigeria lies in Agriculture.

The Commissioner for Agriculture in Ekiti State, Mr. Jide Arowosafe thanked the Minister for showing effective and positive leadership in the country.

In his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of OAMSAL Nigeria Ltd, Mr. Femi Salami, stated that he resigned his work in the banking sector to be a young farmer and entrepreneur and presently, an employer of labour and has no regrets going into farming.

The Minister took time to visit Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, where he undertook extensive tour of the institution’s farm facilities, and expressed readiness of the Federal Government to partner with the University especially in terms of entrepreneurship.
