The race for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency seat gained significant momentum on Tuesday as frontline aspirant Hon. Sarah Ivie Adidi formally submitted her Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat.
The submission, which traditionally functions as a procedural hurdle, was transformed into a massive show of force by a diverse coalition of residents, youth groups, and women’s organizations from across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Addressing the sea of supporters clad in campaign colours, Adidi framed her candidacy as a mission to modernize the nation’s capital from the grassroots up.
She pledged to turn the AMAC/Bwari constituency into a “national model” through a three-pronged strategy.
According to her, her advocacy will be closing the gap in urban and rural amenities, targeting projects for women and the burgeoning youth population, collaborative representation to ensure a safer environment for residents.
“This journey is not mine alone,” Adidi told the chanting crowd.
She adds: “It belongs to every young person who believes in a better future and every woman who dares to lead.
“Together, we will turn our shared dreams into reality.”
The event took on a carnival-like atmosphere, but the underlying message was one of serious political alignment.
The heavy presence of women’s groups signaled a strategic shift in the constituency’s dynamics, with several leaders publicly endorsing Adidi as the “hope of the constituency.”
Spokespersons for the various groups cited her established track record in advocacy and community development as the primary reason for their solidarity.
They described her as a “preferred choice” capable of delivering people-centered representation that prioritizes the vulnerable.
As the APC prepares for its primary elections, Adidi’s submission marks a milestone in FCT politics.
Observers note that the overwhelming grassroots backing displayed at the secretariat positions her as a formidable contender in the race for the Green Chamber.
With a campaign anchored on inclusivity and effective representation, Adidi is betting on a “bottom-up” approach to governance that resonates with the daily realities of Abuja residents.
