A coalition of political groups, the National Coalition Against Fraudulent Politicians, yesterday in a statement cautioned President Goodluck Jonathan against contesting the 2015 presidential election.

The group, made up of the Movement for the Protection of Peoples Rights, Northern Youth Coalition for Justice, Supreme Niger Delta Youth Assembly, Oodua Progressives Forum, South East Network for Good Governance, and Pragmatic Initiative for Youth Empowerment and Good Governance, in the release signed by their leaders claimed Jonathan would have done two terms by 2015.

In a press statement signed by Comrade Abdullahi Mohammed and Comrade Daniel Obasi, on behalf of six other groups, it cited a letter to the PDP national chairman by one Dr. Umar Ardo and asked President Jonathan to borrow a cue from it.

“It is important for Nigerians to have a clear understanding of the message Dr. Umar Ardo sent to the public domain. His submission is left for constitutional lawyers to prove in a court of law,” the group said.

It adds: “Our opinion is based on the moral rights of President Jonathan who has continued to take Nigerians for a ride. We applaud the courage of Dr. Ardo who has headed for the court of appeal for interpretation on the matter.”

It also condemned regional endorsements which President Jonathan is receiving, describing it as misleading. According to the group, “We are not unaware of the political game plan by some political spent forces, hiding under the cloak of regional representations to extend Jonathan’s tenure. The third term agenda of President Jonathan is not a secret, as his leaders and advisers from the south-south have continued to beat war drums if he does not succeed”.
