An Abuja based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Sure Smiles Gender World Initiatives for Women and Children has distributed farm inputs to widows in Garki, Abuja.
The founder Dr. (Mrs.) Udegbunam Chioma, described the empowerment as very necessary to provide the widows with something that could put food on their table.
According her; “We discovered that access to fertilizers and other farm inputs is not so easy for the rural farmers especially the widows and the do not usually have people that will speak for them, so I decided to be the bridge between them and the people that supplies it.
“So, what I simply did was to remove all the discomfort, the stress to let them have it on a platter of gold without paying a dime on it.”
She explained that the NGO aims at uplifting and better the lives of women in the society, especially the indigents and the down trodden.
On her part, President of the National Council for Women’s Societies (NCWS), Dr. Gloria Laraba Shoda thanked the founder of Sure Smiles foundation for the kind gesture done to women.
She added that Founder of the Sure Smilrs is an exemplary leader that needed to be encouraged for the better of women in the society.
