Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (, PDP), under the aegis of Northern Youth Movement, have called on the Board of Trustees and the National Working Committee of the party to ensure that the party’s congress in Niger State. are held within the next fourteen days or face legal action.
The group said this at a media briefing in Kaduna yesterday.
The National Coordinator of the movement, Ibrahim Ahamadu who read the positon of the youth from a prepared text, explained that the future of any political party was in its youth population.
The movement also insisted that party positions in the congresses must be contested.
He stressed that members of the movement decided to gather in Kaduna to express displeasure over the shifting of the congress elections in Niger state because of some individuals who are protesting their selfish interests.
According to him youths who were under 40 years of age were determined to take their place in the scheme of things within the party hierarchy and that’s what some are afraid of.
“To stabilize the PDP Niger States in, Northern Youth Movement has set up and inaugurated committees to ensure the involvement of young stakeholders across the spectrum of the party in the state.
“ The main focus of this group is to unite all young people within the PDP family and attract new members”
