Group hails Gbajabiamila over support to Katsina sick baby

A Katsina based Non-Governmental Organization, Queen Dijah Women and Children Initiative have hailed intervention by the Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila to settle medical bills of a baby born with congenital disorder in Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs camp in Batsari local government area of Katsina State.
Halima Abdullahi, three months old was born with congenital disorder (cleft lip and cleft palate) and unfortunately her parents could not afford the medical bills to operate her.
Little Halima’s predicament was brought to limelight with a visit of the NGO to the camp who later sought for the attention of the Speaker when he also led other members of the house on a sympathy visit to the IDPs in the camp and where he instantly agreed to foot the medical bills to carry out operation on the baby.
Speaking at the event, Gbajabiamila said the treatment for the baby will be speedily carried out to correct the disorder.
The speaker directed his medical aide to link up with the NGO for details of the victim to ensure proper planning to conduct the operation for little Halima.
The group coordinator Hajiya Khadija Suleiman Saulawa “We in Queen Dijah Foundation are impressed with the spontaneous response of the Speaker. It shows he is a man of the people who cares about the welfare of Nigerians like that of little Halimah” .
She added, “ a good leader can be identified through his ability to listen, show concern and care for the citizens (masses) he or she represents as a government”.
She said for the Speaker agreeing to shoulder the responsibility to carry out the operation to correct the disorder is life changing for little Halima.
“We are proud to associate ourselves with the style of leadership displayed by the Speaker. We pray that may Almighty Allah reward him abundantly for the kind gesture, Amin.To all members , we are indeed grateful to them for finding time out of their busy schedules to visit and sympathize with the IDPs,” she stressed.
