Group harps on citizen’s influence in Kaduna 2024 approved budget

The Open Government Partnership (OGP) Technical Working Group on strengthening the participatory budgeting process, has tracked and analysed the Kaduna citizens’ influence in the state’s 2024 approved budget.
Reports indicated that the accountability mechanisms (groups) had in a town hall meeting for the 2024 budget, presented the citizens’ demands in various sectors to the government.
This is in line with the OGP which the Kaduna State Government is keyed into, to ensure inclusive governance.
At a one-day post-mortem of the 2024 approved budget on Tuesday in Kaduna, the Civil Society (CS) Co-chair, of Open Budget, OGP, Mr Seth Luke, said the objective of the session was to assess the level of citizen’s influence in the 2024 approved budget using analysis harmonised and presented by accountability mechanisms in the sectors
He added that it was to provide insight to enhance civil society and media to effectively engage government with evidence from the budget postmortem.
