A group, Movement for Progressive and Good Governance in Nigeria, has petitioned the Minister of Education, faulting the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Hauwa Tanko Muhammed as Acting Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, and her recommendation for substantive appointment by the Polytechnic’s Governing Council.
In the petition signed by the Nasarawa State Chairman of the Movement and made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday, Ibrahim Balarabe said Dr. Muhammed was found guilty of plagiarism in 2015; as such, she lacks the integrity to preside over a reputable institution like the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa.
The group also argued that Dr. Muhammed parades a third-class degree in English Language as against a minimum of second-class honors which was clearly stated in the advert for Rectorship that the applicant must obtain at least a minimum of 2nd class lower from a reputable university.
According to the Petition, “By this letter, our petition to you praying inter alia for your scrupulous and meticulous investigation into many unfair, deliberate, and fraudulent Selection/Recommendations for the Appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Hauwa Tanko Muhammed as Substantive Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa.”
