A non governmental Organization known as, Prime Initiative (Jigawa Tax Justice), in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, designed a recommendations for sustainable and equitable revenue mobilization system in Jigawa state.
The recommendation was contained in a communique read by the executive director of Prime Initiative comrade Mohd Abdu Dutse on Tuesday at Startup office.
According to the communique, the recommendation was designed after a series of dialogue on tax compliance and revenue mobilization and civil society organizations town hall meeting on effective and efficient tax system in the state.
The communique stressed the need for political will to enhance tax compliance, transparent assessment, collection and utilization process as well as recruitment of staff and training for modern technology skills on revenue assessment and collection.
It maintained that, for better revenue generation and mobilization in the state, there is need for more stakeholders engagement through collaborative effort between state actors, taxpayers and market associations.
Other recommendations include taxpayers education campaigns by providing clear information about tax laws, responsibilities and benefits in addition of establishment of internal audit unit within tax administration.
The communique also reflected commitiment to a transparent, fair, and efficient tax system.
