n aspirant in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State and member, House of Representatives, Hon. Chris Azubogu, has expressed his readiness to leverage on the state’s vast human resource endowment to make governance count for the people, if he elected governor of the state.
Hon. Azubogu pointed out that the past 14 years he had utilized in acquiring knowledge, will come handy in repositioning the South-Eastern state for the benefit of the people.
The governorship aspirant said these after collecting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abuja.
Hon. Azubogu similarly said the decision as to whether the PDP governorship ticket in Anambra State be left for one of the three Senatorial Districts, is entirely left for the people to take.
The federal lawmaker, who is currently representing Nnewi North/Nnewi South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, pledged his readiness to leverage on the state’s vast human resource endowment to make governance count for the people.
According to him, “
“We have been involved completely in the process of putting governance and political leadership in the past 14 years in Anambra state, but the truth is that the skills we have acquired overtime would bring to bear the needed leadership that Anambra deserves now. “We are committed to offering good service, transparent, inclusive and accountable governance in Anambra state”, he said.
On what he will do to make the needed difference if given the mandate, the engineer-turned politician noted that his commitment to offer himself for service is premised on his belief that the state will witness massive transformation is the right man climbs the mantle of leadership as the governor of Anambra.
His words, “Anambra will experience massive development both in infrastructure and human capital development.
“We are working out clear programmes which are tested and proven overtime to drive development, governance, comprehensive and inclusive dividends for the people of Anambra state,” he added.
The federal lawmaker equally pledged to prioritize youth employment through a model that will harness their creative potentials and birth a virile economy.
He continued: “As someone who has been involved in governance not only in understanding Anambra state, but having proper knowledge of the challenges of the state, I have developed a clear blueprint on core areas to bring about genuine development for Anambra state, especially fighting our greatest threat which is youth unemployment.
“We will create a strong and virile economy, security and right infrastructure that will aid economic growth and development that will empower our youths and women.
“Once we do that, what we deserve from government will not be too much. What we need is an honest government that will provide the right infrastructure.
“Once we do that and provide the right opportunity for human capital development, we will be up there because any physical development that does not go with human capital development will not work.”
The three time member of the lower arm of the National Assembly also stressed the need to rejig education, health care delivery system and security architecture, saying with all three in place, “Anambra will be a destination for investment, industrial growth and a veritable economy that would be sustainable.”
He called on the PDP to settle for a candidate with the required ability and capacity to champion the cause of the party in November.
His words, “Immediately after the primaries, if the right candidate with the right skills and experience emerges as the candidate of the party, that will help us to quickly close ranks and move into the election because Anambra deserves something better,” he added.
