Unknown gunmen have reportedly killed Samson Omoarebokhae, a Senior Special Assistant, (SSA), to the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku.
Peoples Daily reports that Ivy Adobo-Ebojele, the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media disclosed this in a condolence message to the family of the deceased.
Ebojele said the Speaker’s aide was killed on August 31, 2024, by unknown gunmen on his way from Ozalla in Owan West Local Government Area of the State.
She said on getting the news, the Speaker immediately dispatched a delegation on a condolence visit to the family of the slain SSA.
She added that the Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Odion Iruobe who led the Speaker’s delegation, described his death as a great loss to the Assembly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Owan West local government area in general.
The media aide described the deceased as one of the trusted staff of the Speaker, saying the Chief of Staff, who commiserated with the family of the late SSA, urged them to draw strength from God’s promises of not leaving those mourning comfortless.
“Though it is a painful situation, we ask God in His infinite power to give the family a reason to smile again.
“We pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased and for God to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, she said.
Responding, Elijah Omoarebokhai, a brother of the deceased, expressed the family’s appreciation to the Speaker for sending a delegation to share in their grief.
The Speaker said Hon. Isimbabi cited division in NNPP at the national level as the major reason of his defection to APC.
Speaker Jatau has commended the lawmaker for his bold step in joining the ruling APC in the State.
