Gunmen kidnap PDP chieftain in Benue

Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers yesterday abducted a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Ben Akile on Zaki – Biam Katsina Ala road in Benue North East Senatorial District .
Ben Akile was said to be on his way from Zaki Biam to Katsina Ala town after a meeting with Senator Gabriel Suswam .
The meeting with Senator Suswam was to discuss and find a way out of the present insecurity in the zone .
An eye witness Paul Unande told our reporter that, the victim alongside with some PDP supporters were travelling to Katsina Ala in a vehicle belonging to State PDP Legal Adviser Barr. Clement Mue when gunmen laid siege on them.
He said they shot at them from the bush, robbed them of cash and other valuables before taking Ben Akile to an unknown destination .
As at press time, the gunmen were yet to contact the family of the victim.
It should be noted that there has been high rate of kidnapping in Benue State. Only recently, a mother of an African Independent Television, AIT Editor, Steve Ayua was abducted by unknown gunmen in the same axis.
The Police Public Relations’ Officer DSP Catherine Anene failed to confirm the incident.
