Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Monday night, killed the traditional ruler of Garin Moddibo, Ardo-Kola local government area of Taraba state, HRH. Alhaji Muhammadu while, his wife and son were also kidnapped.
Peoples Daily gathered that the armed men also kidnapped additional 8 people in the town, while 4 others were kidnapped in Gulum area of Jalingo on the same night of Monday.
The chairman Ardo-Kola LGA, Hon. Dalhatu Kawu who confirmed the incident to our Correspondent, narrated that the gungmen invaded the town which is a few kilometres away from Sunkani, the headquarters of Ardo- Kola Local Government around 11.30pm.
“The gunmen invaded Garin Moddibo here in Ardo-Kola local government and killed HRH. Alhaji Muhammadu, the traditional ruler of Garin Moddibo while, his wife and son were kidnapped. They proceeded to two other nearby villages and abducted eight other people including a nursing mother.
“The late traditional ruler was a peace builder who had being backing youths activities in the area to ensure crime free in the community. I have already informed the State government about the development, and has deployed hunters led by the State chairman of Hunters Association, Mr. Dantala Adamu to search forest and mountains around the local government to rescue the abducted persons”, the council chairman narrated.
Meanwhile, four people were also reportedly kidnapped in Gulum area of Jalingo the Taraba state capital on the same night of Monday, October 30, 2023.
The spokesman for the Taraba State Police Command, DSP. Usman Abdullahi confirmed the incidents and said, team of police special patrol have been deployed to ensure safe release of the kidnapped persons and arrest of the kidnappers.
