Gusau Varsity debunks report on student supplying hard drugs to bandits

Date:

From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau

The Federal University Gusau has dismissed reports by some National Dailies (Peoples Daily is excluded) involving one Mansur Mohammed alleged to be a 300-hundred level student of Economics Department as hard drugs pusher.
In a statement by the Information Officer of the University, Malam Umar Usman, that immediately the University was contacted on the matter last Wednesday, a team led by the Dean Students’ Affairs, Prof. M.L. Mayanchi was sent to find out the facts about the reports, but all records available revealed that, Mansur Mohammed had never gained admission into the University.
The statement further noted that, the suspect who was arrested by the Police, had in his possession, multitude number of bottles containing alleged hard drugs and other items suspected to be intoxicating substances while on his way for delivery to armed bandits at their camps.
The Zamfara State Police Command through its Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, informed the team that the suspect did not mentioned FUGUS in all his statements even before a meeting was arranged in which he was brought for re-interrogation.The said suspect re-affirmed that he is a student of one University located in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
The University, therefore, dissociates itself in totality from the said suspect and asked the media to withdraw its story with caption “Gusau Varsity Student Arrested for Supplying Bandits with Hard Drugs” as he is not a student of the University. The Zamfara State Police Command can prove it.
