Some residents of Gwagwalada Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have lambasted the chairman of the Area Council, Mr. Adamu Mustapha Danze over the provision of basic necessities of life for the people such as boreholes as well as transformers in some communities.
Some of the residents, who spoke to Peoples Daily correspondent in Gwagwalada, alleging that the current administration of the Area Council under the leadership of Mustapha Danze had failed to provide purposeful leadership capable of satisfying the aspirations of the inhabitants in the area.
A resident, Mallam Saleh Lawal who is the community leader of angwan Azara, accused the chairman of neglecting the community in terms of provision of basic amenities.
He said that since the chairman assumed office he had not carried out any meaningful project in the community, saying that the chairman had not fulfilled the promises of his campaign to the people in the area.
Lawal therefore, appealed to the chairman to repair the dilapidated borehole in the community for the sake of the people who voted him in power, and tongue-lashed the chairman of not rehabilitate Ahaji Nura-sharp corner road.
Another resident, Mr. Abdulhamid kaura who is the community leader of Tipper Garage, Angwan Dodo in Gwagwalda, urged the chairman to repair the dilapidated roads in the community.
He charged the chairman to drill boreholes in order boost potable drinking water in the community, adding that the residents of the area were facing the problem of epileptic power supply in the area, and tasked the chairman to provide transformers for them to boost electricity supply.
He also, charged the chairman to build a clinic in Angwan Dodo to prevent the people from travelling out for urgent medical attention.
Kaura noted that since the chairman took the mantle leadership of the Area Council he did not execute any project in the area.
On her part, a trader in Gwagwalada main market, Cecilia John, tongue-lashed the chairman for abandoning FRCN-market road that is now a death trap for the commuters in the area.
She alleged that despite the revenue being generated in Gwagwalada markets no tangible project was carried out by the council chairman.
In his reaction, an aggrieved APC member who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that despite the monthly allocations being given to Gwagwalada Area Council by the Federal Government the chairman had nothing to offer for the residents.
He also alleged that the council political appointees had not deemed it fit to advice the chairman on best the council resources would be used to alleviate the suffering of the people in Gwagwalada and its environs, saying that the chairman had failed in the area of human development.
He said he would only give the chairman a pass mark in the area of environmental sanitation, as he said the chairman had not done enough in terms of capital projects.
Not left out, a roadside mechanic who identified himself as Micheal Samuel, pleaded with the chairman to rehabilitate the dilapidated roads in Gwagwalada, especially the town hall road.
