Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, doled out cash to 2,682 intending Muslim pilgrims from the State, in the sum of $100 each.
Bala announced the donation when he addressed the pilgrims at the Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar Hajj Camp.
He flagged off the airlift of the 2,682 Muslim pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, urged them to be worthy ambassadors of the state while in the Holy Land.
The governor bid farewell to the pilgrims, and advised them to pray for him, his government, the state, and Nigeria for peace,stability of the country.
He assured that the government has made all necessary arrangements for the state pilgrims to make their stay in the Holy land easier to enable them perform their Hajj without hindrance of any kind.
The State Amirul-Hajj, Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, commended the governor for his confidence in him and his committee while reassuring the state of the successful Hajj exercise.
The first state inaugural flight was expected today , with over 500 intending pilgrims from Misau, Ningi, Jama’are, and Ganjuwa, as well as officials, lined up to lead the way.
On his part, the Executive secretary,, Bauchi state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris said this year pilgrims will be given 500 dollars as basic travelling allowance out of the 500 dollars only 200 dollars will be given to pilgrims before their departure.
He added that ATM cards will be given to each pilgrims to withdraw the remaining
300 dollars while in Saudi Arabia.
