Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat

Lagos State Deputy Governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has dismissed the credentials of politicians seeking to unseat President Bola Tinubu, saying they lack the vision needed to transform Nigeria.
Hamzat made the remarks on Sunday while hosting members of the APC State Chairmen’s Forum, who were on a tour of major infrastructure projects across Lagos State and later paid him a courtesy visit at his Ikoyi residence.
According to the deputy governor, President Tinubu’s leadership has been defined by long-term planning, innovation and inclusiveness, qualities he said many of the President’s challengers have failed to demonstrate.
He noted that Tinubu encourages contributions from everyone, insisting that merit, rather than status, determines which ideas are adopted in his administration.
Hamzat also argued that the establishment of specialised government agencies under Tinubu’s leadership reflected a deliberate strategy to improve efficiency and deliver better development outcomes beyond the traditional ministry structure.
Highlighting what he described as evidence of Tinubu’s foresight, Hamzat pointed to projects including the rail transport system, the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Eko Atlantic City, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Badagry-Sokoto Highway.
He said the initiatives were designed not only to improve transportation but also to promote industrialization, expand trade and strengthen national integration.
He further maintained that Tinubu’s development agenda and economic policies have enhanced Nigeria’s attractiveness to both local and foreign investors.
Addressing party leaders, Hamzat urged APC state chairmen to sustain strong working relationships with their respective governors and continue strengthening the party’s internal structure.
He also advised elected officials to appreciate the central role political parties play in democratic governance and called on public office holders to uphold transparency, accountability and responsible leadership.
