A member of the House of Representatives, representing Fagge Federal Constituency in Kano State, Mohammed Bello Shehu has disbursed over N10 million to women and youths in his constituency.
Shehu, popularly known as MB Shehu said the money was meant for them to embark on small scale businesses, or support their existing ones, aimed at cushioning their economic hardships.
Presenting the money at a ceremony which took place at the Fagge Model Primary School in Kano on Sunday, Shehu said the objective of the gesture was to also make the beneficiaries become self reliant.
The lawmaker explained that 80 people from Fagge C ward and Rijiyar Lemo ward would benefit from the empowerment which comprised both women and men.
“ As we pledged during our campaign that we would empower women and youths with finance to start up small scale businesses, today we are fulfilling that promise.
“Some of you will benefit with N200,000 , some N150,000,while some will receive N100,000 each,” he said.
The lawmaker urged the beneficiaries to make adequate use of the financial empowerment, especially in the wake of the lingering economic hardship in the country.
“ I hope that next year by this time beneficiaries of this gesture would be able to support others.I pray to Allah(SWT) to bless your business and bring more goodies to our community,Kano State and the Nation at large,” he said.
He added that by the end of March this year, other wards of Fagge Federal Constituency would also benefit from the same gesture .
In her remarks, Hajiya Zuwaira Abubakar Tarauni, Kano State NNPP Women leader, urged the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the empowerment.
“ You should ensure that you embark on small scale businesses so that you can help yourself and your family.I urge you not to relent in the pursue of your dreams,” Tarauni added.
