The President of the United Church of Christ in Nigeria, otherwise known as HEKAN, Rev. Dr. Amos G. Kiri, has called on members to remain united and committed to the church’s vision as it marks its 60th anniversary.

In his valedictory presidential address, Rev. Dr. Kiri highlighted the church’s achievements over the past decade, including the establishment of new schools and clinics, and the expansion of its global presence.

He emphasized the importance of integrity, transparency, and accountability in governance, and urged members to support the incoming administration.

Rev. Dr. Kiri also spoke on the state of the nation, calling on the government to address the security challenges facing the country and to prioritize the welfare of citizens.

He commended the Kaduna State Government for its efforts in infrastructure development, but urged the government to do more to address the issue of food security.

The HEKAN President also emphasized the importance of civic responsibility, urging members to participate in the democratic process and to hold leaders accountable.

Rev. Dr. Kiri delivered the address at the church’s 60th Annual National Convention, held in Kaduna from April 7-12, 2026.

The convention was themed “We are One in Christ” (Mu Daya ne Cikin Kristi), and featured various speakers and activities.

Rev. Dr. Kiri’s presidency ends later this year, and he expressed his gratitude to the church for the opportunity to serve.
