The Planned Parenthood federation of America-Global (PPFA-Global) has organized a seminar for doctors, nurses as well as midwives in the private and public hospitals on HIV/AIDS pandemic in the FCT.
The Director in charge of PPFA-Global in Nigeria, Dr. Francis Eremuthan, who made this known in an interview with Peoples Daily at the venue of the seminar in Gwagwalada, said that the seminar was being organised to sharpen the skills of practicing health professionals.
He said that the PPFA-Global was committed to train medical doctors as well as nurses/midwives to improve the health needs of people at the grassroots.
He expressed joy that the seminar would equip the professionals to know more about HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment saying that the leadership of PPFA-Global would continue to train the health professionals to update their knowledge.
He advised participants to make use of the knowledge acquired to impact positively on the lives of the patients.
The Director, however, revealed that about 30 participants attended the seminar.
On their parts, the seminar facilitators from the Public Health Institute at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Dr. Omolola and Mrs. Adekemi Olawolere, urged Nigerians to embrace the HIV/AIDS patients, while warning them against stigmatization.
The PPFA-Global senior programme officer in charge of monitoring and evaluation, Claire Tebbet, placedmore emphasis on the training and retraining of the health professionals.
