Hon. Mashio emerges Speaker Yobe House Assembly

The Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio of the Jajere Constituency has emerged as the new Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly.
This followed his nomination at a sitting at the legislative chambers today in Damaturu. The motion for his first nomination was first moved by Hon. Adamu Dala Dogo representing Karasuwa constituency and seconded by Hon. Bukar Mustapha of Geidam central constituency and accepted by all the 24 legislatures respectively.
Hon. Buba Mashio is a grassroots politician in Yobe state; born on 25th May, 1968 in Mashio town of Fune Local Government Area in the state.
He began his early education at Mashio Primary School and proceeded to Government Secondary School, Damagum. Began his working career as as Clerical Assistant with Fune local government where he resigned to contest for councillorship for Mashio ward and became Vice Chairman.
In the quest for furtherance of his education, the new Speaker was at Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri, University of Maiduguri for his B.Sc in political science.
Mashio contested and elected Member Yobe State House of Assembly representing Jajere Constituency in 1999, he served in various committees and capacities in the legislative chambers.
Other principal officers are, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Yau Usman Dachia, Leader of the House, Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, the Deputy Leader, Hon. Hassan Muhd Yusufari, Chief Whip, Hon. Muhammed Auwal Isa Bello, Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Ahmed Musa Dumbol.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Speaker, Chiroma Buba Mashio expressed gratitude to his colleagues for giving him the opportunity to serve them and the entire people of the state.
Mashio pledged to provide sound leadership “without any bias, I shall be guided by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I will operate an open door policy to welcome suggestions to promote good governance for effective legislation.
