Hoodlums invade residence of social critic in Benin

Suspected hoodlums have reportedly invaded the residence of a Benin-based social critic, Prince Ulame Erese in Obakhavbaye Street, Ogbe Quarters in Benin City.
Erese, leader of The Platform Group, a Non-Governmental organization, was not at home when the miscreants stormed his residence.
The hoodlums reportedly burgled his room and carted away vital documents.
A member of Erese’s family, Mr Imafidon Hope Osarodion who claimed to have witnessed the incident, hinted that the miscreants had demanded the whereabouts of the social critic.
A middle-aged man who identified himself as Ikpoba Esosa, told newsmen that Erese’s, had been a dependable ally of the Human Rights Activist and Convener of #Revolution Now protest, Mr Omoyele Sowore.
Our Correspondent reports that photographs of the leader of Platform Group, erupted social Media when he led undergraduates in a protest match over water scarcity at Ugbowo main Campus of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) during the twilight of the administration of the former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Faraday Orumwense.
Erese had has being in the forefront of advocating against human rights abuse in high places in society.
A top police Officer attached to Oba market police Division in Benin City, told our Correspondent that safety of lives and property of residents of Obakhavbaye and its environs, remain their priority.
