There was confusion on Saturday when a lion attacked and seriously injured a butcher at Kaduna popular Gamji Gate in the state
The butcher from Zango Abachoir was responsible for supplying meat to the animals at the mini Zoo commissioned about three years ago by the state government.
The butcher simply identified as Mustapha Adamu sustained a serious cut by his neck as the lion tried to chop off his head around 12 pm on that faithful day.
He was rushed to emergency unit of Barau Dikko Hospital for treatment.
Our reporter who visited the hospital met the victim’s friends and relatives as they trooped to sympathize with him.
Narrating the incident on his hospital bed, Mustapha said “ I was the person feeding the lion for the past 6-8 months. I think what happened was a mistake on my part because I was suppose to luck one of the doors after giving him meat but I forgot to do so, the lion now came out and grabbed me by the neck.
“It was my boss that screamed as he quickly threw another piece of meat into the lion’s cage that made it to release me. In fact, even at that, the lion still tried to come back to attack me.
“I lost consciousness until they brought me to this hospital for treatment. In fact, I was very lucky if not only God knows what will have happened,” he said.
He said top management of the park visited him on the hospital to sympathize with him over the unfortunate incident.
