Kaduna State has achieved zero incidents of violent conflict since 2023, a milestone that the state government attributes to bolstering progress in education, agriculture, skills acquisition, and enterprise development.

This announcement was made yesterday during the 2025 Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Week by the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki.

Senator Uba Sani explained that this achievement reflects the effectiveness of the Kaduna Peace Model. This locally developed framework combines dialogue, community engagement, early warning systems, intelligence-led security, and inclusive governance.

He emphasized that the administration has intentionally positioned peace as a core development strategy, recognizing that stability is essential for social progress and economic growth.

“Peace is the foundation of development. By prioritizing prevention, dialogue, and community ownership, Kaduna has created an environment conducive to sustained growth,” Governor Uba Sani stated.

The Governor elaborated that the implementation of the Conflict Early Warning and Early Response System (CEWERS), supported by development partners, has facilitated the early detection and resolution of tensions before they escalate, thereby enhancing public confidence and attracting investors.

Governor Uba Sani highlighted that improved security has permitted the reopening of schools, health facilities, markets, and farmlands across the state. He noted the return of over 300,000 out-of-school children to classrooms, a 40 percent reduction in tuition fees at state-owned tertiary institutions, and the expansion of technical, vocational, and digital skills programs for youth as significant achievements of the Kaduna Peace Model.

In agriculture, Uba Sani stated that sustained peace has increased productivity and improved rural livelihoods through enhanced budgetary investments, the distribution of fertilizers across all local government areas, and the development of agro-industrial infrastructure to boost food security.

He also indicated that job creation and support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are crucial for maintaining peace. Ongoing enterprise financing and skills initiatives are designed to reduce unemployment and social vulnerability.

Uba Sani further described the media as a key partner in the peace and development framework, urging journalists to engage in conflict-sensitive reporting, counter misinformation, and amplify stories of reconciliation, progress, and opportunity.

Earlier, AbdulGafar Alabelewe, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council, presented a Recognition Award for Exemplary Leadership to Governor Uba Sani, citing his administration’s commitment to peacebuilding, inclusive governance, and press freedom.

The Kaduna State Government reaffirmed its willingness to share its peace-driven development framework with other states, describing the Kaduna Peace Model as a practical blueprint for enhancing stability and accelerating development throughout Northern Nigeria.
