How KEDCO Staff slumps, died in Katsina

Date:

Contrary to the publication in some sections of the media, the management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has cleared the air on the death of one of its staff, Malam Kabir Mannir Mawashi.
In a statement by KEDCO’s spokesman, Mohammed Kandi, it said that although Malam Mawashi died in the line of duty, he was not electrocuted as earlier insinuated in some news reports.
The KEDCO spokesman also disclosed that the deceased had slumped and died on the spot while trying to clear a fault on one of the electrical installations along Dutsimma road, beside Ahmadu Bello Housing Estate in Katsina Metropolis recently.
Kandi further stated that, “Malam Mawashi had met his unfortunate death when he slouched soon after he finished working and closed a faulty 33KV isolator in the area, contrary to the claim that power was restored to the line while he was still working.”
According to him, “while we await a postmortem report of Malam Magashi’s death from the doctors, we hereby reiterate our company’s steadfastness, commitment and adherence to safety precaution at all times.”
“Although the entire staff of KEDCO are still bereaved over the sudden death of one of their finest personnels, we believe that the hard working Magashi had died of a natural cause,” Kandi explained.
He added that even though some of his colleagues expressed shock over Magashi’s demise and have found it difficult to believe that he is gone forever, they said he would be remembered for his selflessness and dedication to service.
