From Ahmed Idris Birnin Kebbi

The Oxfam International of Nigeria has said that for Nigeria to achieve zero hunger by year 2030, government must develop and implement specific policies that will boost agricultural production and strengthen agricultural resilience in the face of uncertain weather and climatic variables.
Addressing newsmen yesterday at a press briefing which was held at the Safar Quest in Binrin Kebbi, Kebbi State, the state coordinator Mr. Olumide Ojo said that Nigerian Agricultural Resilience Framework (NARF) should be adopted by federal government and Kebbi state governments and localized for implementation.
He stated further that there was need for the stakeholders to work together in order to raise the level of awareness on the issues of hunger, starvation and malnutrition especially as it affects the rural population in Africa. “consistent advocacy campaigns should be a collective responsibility of all” he said.
Mr. Ojo who further pointed out that individuals must consciously protect the environment and ensure that natural resources are not unduly depleted and abused, adding that 95 percent of the food we eat are produced from the soil while human actions and extreme climate conditions are continuously degrading the soil resources thereby making the earth more susceptible to hunger.
“there must be deliberate efforts by government and the private sector in order to promote policies that will facilitate women access to land for its ownership and control” he added.
The oxfam assured the Kebbi State Government that they are proposing to develop climate adaptation plans of Actions that will recognize indigenous knowledge, gender responsive, flexible and community managed.
Consequently, the Apex court nullified and set aside the decision of the Appeal Court of June 21, 2018.
