How Nigerians can access ₦50,000 relief through Moniepoint

Date:

The Federal Government has introduced a USSD service through Moniepoint Microfinance Bank to enable selected Nigerians to check their eligibility and receive the ₦50,000 National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).

The initiative is aimed at providing financial support to vulnerable households struggling with the rising cost of living.

Moniepoint Microfinance Bank, an approved payment partner for the programme, said eligible customers could check their status and accept the payment using their mobile phones without visiting a bank branch or accessing the internet.

To access the intervention, customers are required to dial *5573*27# using the telephone number linked to their Moniepoint accounts.

They are then expected to follow the instructions displayed on their phones to establish whether they have been selected as beneficiaries.

Those who qualify will receive a prompt to accept the ₦50,000 payment, which will subsequently be credited directly to their Moniepoint accounts.

The bank said beneficiaries would not be required to pay registration, processing or activation fees to access the funds.

It also warned customers against fraudsters who might demand money or request confidential banking details under the guise of facilitating the disbursement.

However, the intervention is not an automatic payment to every Moniepoint account holder, as only individuals selected under the programme are eligible.

The NERSI programme, spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, is part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to cushion the effects of economic hardship through targeted financial assistance.

The government is deploying approved financial service providers to ensure that the funds reach eligible beneficiaries.
