Nigerian youths have been charged to be in the vanguard of ensuring a united and prosperous country, by always engaging in positive ventures that would contribute to her development.
This charge was given by the former Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Retired Major General John Gbor.
Gbor made the call in Abuja while receiving the award of Okupe of Niger Deltans from a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), United Niger Delta Forum.
While describing youth as the strength of any nation, he expressed concern over the involvement of some youth in issues threatening the corporate existence of the country.
Similarly, while frowning over challenges confronting Nigerian youths, stressed the need for them to always engage in positive ventures that would contribute to national development.
He however called for more enabling environment by government at all levels that would enable the youths realize their dreams.
Retired Major General Gbor also enjoined all Nigerians irrespective of political, religion and tribal differences to be united towards actualizing the dreams of the nation’s founding fathers.
He emphasized the need for political office holders in the country to shun corruption and work towards tackling security challenges threatning the progress and peaceful coexistence of Nigerian people.
Presenting the award, the President of United Niger Delta Forum, Comrade Ese Oghenovo said the gesture was in recognition of the laudable humanitarian programmes of Retired Major General John Gbor through his Foundation.
He therefore assured the Forum’s support to his activities towards improving the well being of Nigerians and enhance their collective progress.
