It was a narrow escape for many occupants of a cluster of five blocks of 3 bedroom flats at number 13 Nelson Mandela Street, Asokoro District of Abuja at the weekend, when fire outbreak gutted four out of the residential facility.
However, furniture, clothing, food items and other personal effects were destroyed by the fire.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the residents of the building had noticed fire from the solar panels mounted on the roof of the building before it turned into full blown inferno.
According to the Head of FEMD, Search and Rescue Team, Mr Monday Addie, the incident was reported at about 1pm on Saturday.
A statement from Head Public Affairs at FEMD, Nkechi Isa,, affirmed that although the four affected flats were totally burned, but no life was lost to the incident.
“The affected building is said to belong to former Zamfara State governor, Senator Ahmed Yerima.
“Personnel of FEMD, Federal Fire Service, FCT Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency and the FCT Police Command attended to the incident”, the statement added.
