The Chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance
(APGA) in Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Ezekiel Umar Biko, has revealed that his administration would protect the lives and properties of the
citizens if elected in 2026 Area Council election in the area.
Biko stated this while speaking to newsmen during the Egbira cultural
day celebration in Gwagwalada on Saturday, also said if elected, he would promote peace between the indigenes of Gwagwalada and Egbira speaking tribe in the area.
He expressed with Joy that as a Gbagyi man his administration would carry everybody along in the scheme of things, describing Gbagyi as peace-loving people.
He said his leadership would focus on the rehabilitation of rural roads, adding that he would do everything possible to arrest the security challenges facing the people of Gwagwalada and its environs.
Biko, who is famously known as Zezelaga, however, advised the youths to shun thuggery during the forthcoming Area Council election.
In a related development, the Chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Usman Yahaya and the flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gwagwalada, Hon. Mohammed Kasim, also attended the egbira cultural day celebration/launching of community hall held at the Government Day Secondary School Gwagwalada on Saturday.
In an interview, Hon. Yahaya urged the Egbira people to remain committed, advising them to continue to conduct themselves peacefully in the area.
He said if elected, his administration would embrace the Egbira sons and daughters for the overall development of the area, adding that other tribes would be taken along for the sake of peace.
He said if given the mandate as the elected Chairman of Gwagwalada, he would focus on the primary education, primary healthcare and rural infrastructures.
On his part, the Chairmanship candidate of PDP in Gwagwalada, Hon. Mohammed Kasim, congratulated the Egbira people for celebrating culture as well launching of community hall.
According to the President of Egbira Tao Community Association in Gwagwalada, Mr. Shaibu Isah Ojeba and the Odeyani (Chief) of Egbira in the FCT, Dr. Abdulkarim Ibrahim, who spoke to newsmen during the ceremony, called for the unity of Egbira at all times in Gwagwalada and its environs.
The President specifically said that the cultural day was organized to pave the way for upcoming Egbira youths to know their culture, and urged the entire Egbira in Gwagwalada continue to live in peace in the area.
Ojeba, called on the Egbira to come out in 2026 election to vote the candidates of their choice, and counseled the youths against thuggery.
Not left out, the Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Muhammed Bello, charged the Egbira to remain committed to education anywhere they found themselves.
The theme of the cultural day celebration was “Egbira Culture: A Tool for Promoting Unity and Progress in the Diaspora”.
