IBBU Lapai to establish outreach centre in Suleja – Gov Aliyu

The Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai, owned by Niger state government is to establish an outreach centre in Suleja, Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has said.

Governor Aliyu disclosed this yesterday in Minna when he received the leadership of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN led by its President, Alhaji Shakirudeen Labode, at government house.

Aliyu, although did not give details of the proposed outreach centre believed, that it will bring the university closer to the community and make educational facility at the tertiary level available to more qualified students in the state.

The proposed outreach centre will make use of the facilities of the old field base recently acquired from the federal government by the Niger state government.

He urged ANAN to take advantage of the proposed outreach center to bring its programmes to Niger state saying that most accountants seeking refresher programmes have had to travel long distances for such programmes thereby exposing them to road hazards.

The governor lamented the situation where school certificate holders paraded themselves as accountants insisting that such people should be flushed out of the system in order to sanitize the profession.

Aliyu also set up an Executive Council committee to work out the assistance government will render to ANAN in its plan to establish an outreach centre in Niger state suggesting that Suleja town will be most appropriate for the project.

In his remark, the President of ANAN, Alhaji Shakirudeen Labode said that the establishment of the organization in the country is attributable to the effort of former Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
