IBBUL JAC declares two weeks warning

From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna

The Joint Action Congress (JAC) of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), has declared two-weeks warning strike, effectively halting academic and administrative activities across the institution.
JAC clarified that the strike is a lawful industrial action and not a mere notice or advisory period, contrary to claims circulating on students’ platforms and social media.
The Congress said the action is aimed at drawing the urgent attention of relevant authorities to unresolved issues affecting staff welfare.
In a statement issued by the union, JAC described reports suggesting that academic and administrative activities would continue during the strike as false and misleading, noting that such claims were intended to confuse the university community and undermine the collective decision of the Congress.
The union stressed that a warning strike, once declared, entails a complete withdrawal of services by its members for the stipulated period, in line with labour laws and established trade union practices.
