Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai has matriculated 6,072 students for its 17th regular 5th part-time and long vacation training for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor, Profession Abu Kasim Adamu made this disclosure during the matriculation ceremony at the main campus Lapai, saying that the number was out of 7,979 applications received for admission in to the undergraduate programmes of the university this year.
Professor Kasim Adamu advised the new students to abide by the rules and regulations affirmed in their matriculating oath in other to be worthy in character and learning hence to justify the investment of their parents.
He urged the students to be committed to their studies while he warned them against their involvement in any kind of negative social vices like drug abuse, cultism, sexual harassment and exam malpractices but to participate in all lawful activities in the institution.
The Vice chancellor assured of better welfare package for students and staff however enumerated some of his achievements to enhance teaching and learning to include; NUC accreditation and taken off of collage of health sciences, affiliation with other instructions, construction of hostels to accommodate over 300 students.
Others were securing of TETfund projects, researches secured grants, infrastructural development from Nigerians and organizations also applauded the Niger state governor Mohammed Umar Bago for the ongoing construction of the IBBUL university teaching hospital in Minna among others.
The Niger state governor Mohammed Umar Bago represented by the commissioner of tertiary education, Abdullahi Adamu Mamagi assured of continued prioritizing education In additon to payment of scholarship to state indigenes to encourage excellence.
He reassured of timely completion IBBUL University Teaching Hospital Minna and it sustainable efforts in strengthening the state institutions to ensure global standard.
