Ibru university to offer tuition-free agricultural programmes

Date:

The Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU) located at Agbarha-Otor, Delta, is to offer tuition-free agricultural science programmes for selected students.

The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyinka Fuwape, said in a statement on Monday that the aim was to boost practical agriculture.

According to him, the programme had a work-study structure.

“This ensures students gain hands-on, practical experience alongside theoretical learning.

“Through this approach, students will actively participate in fieldwork, agricultural projects and internships that expose them to modern farming techniques and innovative agricultural practices,” Fuwape said.

The vice-chancellor quoted the MCIU Pro-chancellor and Governing Council Chairman, Prof. Anthony Kila, as saying that th initiative would give hope to the needy and the talented.

“This is an example of how universities can be a solution in a country that abounds with needs and talents.

“The MCIU scholarship for agricultural science programme is an opportunity.

“I call on the private and public sectors to support the programme in any way they can,” Fuwape quoted Kila as saying.
