The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Suleiman Abba yesterday in Abuja honored three sergeants with the IGP award and one post-humous award to late sergeant Maimuna Yusuf for exhibiting gallantry acts in the course of the on-going fight against insurgency in the north-eastern part of the country and service to the nation generally.
The star winner of the award, Sergeant Bonze Pelesai got one million naira cash prize for his acts of bravery in aborting attempts by some militant to bomb a bridge in Calabar and averting serious mayhem to indigenes of the area.
The IGP, while giving the awards, said all the recipients have shown one or all the values that have been inculcated in them.
He enjoyed other officers to emulate the exemplary acts of these three officers including the officer receiving the award post-humously.
