The battle for the exalted kingship stool of the ancient Urhobo Kingdom of Ewu-Urhobo in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State rages on with another candidate, Prince Clement Oghenerukevwe Ikolo, laying claims to the kingship stool.
This was contained in a letter written by a law firm to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the state on behalf of Ekade Ruling House, acting through Elder J.U. Umolo, Mr Vincent Egharegha and Mr College Akpobrise .
The letter, titled : “A Humble Call For The Approval Of The Nominated Prince Clement Oghenerukevwe Ikolo As The Candidate To Fill The Vacant Stool Of The Ovie ( King) Of Ewu- Urhobo Kingdom” was dated June 3, 2021 and made available to newsmen.
The letter stated among other issues that Elder Umolo and Egharegha acted in pursuant of section 6 (1) and (2) of the traditional rulers and chiefs edict,1979 as applicable to Delta State to present Prince Clement Ikolo to the Ahavwa Kingmakers Family on the 20th day of April 2021.
“And that on that date under reference, Ahavwa Kingmakers Family took the unanimous decision to approve the nomination of Prince Clement Ikolo as Ovie elect of Ewu- Urhobo ,” the letter stated.
