Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has taken full charge of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign structure in the FCT and Rivers State, asserting that political party lines will not divide his mobilization engine.
At a meeting of the cross-party Rainbow Coalition in Abuja on Monday, Wike told assembled leaders from the APC and PDP that party divisions are secondary to securing a second term for the President.
“I am in charge of the FCT election. I am the commander of field operations as far as the FCT election is concerned,” Wike stated, as candidates from the PDP publicly endorsed APC legislative candidates within the territory.
Wike defended the administration’s economic trajectory, acknowledging short-term sacrifices while insisting that structural reforms are essential for long-term growth.
He also endorsed the creation of state police to boost national security and cited institutional gains in the FCT—including worker progression through the new FCT Civil Service Commission—as key arguments for continuing the current administration’s mandate into 2027.
