Impact of land administration on economic devt enormous —ESV. Okechukwu Madubuko

An Estate Surveyor and Valuer ESV. Okechukwu Simon Madubuko said the impact of land administration on economic development is enormous.
He said there are various objectives associated to land administration use such as ensuring security for credit system,
considering the wellbeing of the environment,
developing land market.
Others are guarantees ownership, improves planning and infrastructure and
reduces dispute and poverty.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja, ESV. Madubuko stated that “Land administration is
the process of determining, recording and disseminating information about ownership, value and use of land and land resources”.
He explained that land is a fundamental resource without which life on earth cannot exist.
It also provides space and materials for the existence of all living beings.
He said access to land is very important for human beings as it provides shelter and a means for their livelihood.
He said land policy of a country is guided by its national political objectives.
He also mentioned the environmental preservation and sustainable pattern of land use.
Similarly, he said
land policy is a highly political document that concerns with the economy, society and environment.
“Therefore specific tools and techniques are required for its implementation. “Hence, a good land administration requires the intervention measures of a more technical nature which concerns the application of property rights regimes and security of those rights, access to credit markets, regulations of land sales and rental markets, and measures to enhance sound land use planning, Land reform, Land Taxation and management of natural resources”.
He emphasized that “A sound operational land policy is formulated in accordance with national political objectives in order to bring about
eradication of Poverty,
promotion of sustainable housing,
sustainable agricultural policy,
economic growth and social equity.
Meanwhile, Madubuko stressed that”it is important when a government of the day operates in the instruments of land tenure security, land market, land taxation, land use planning and development regulation,land reform and management of natural resources to fulfill these objectives.
“If and when a government fulfills those political objectives, it will impact directly and contribute to the economic development of a country”.
