Nasarawa state governor, Umar Tanko Al-makura has said that the impeachment plan by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led Federal Government against him would fail, just as he described the move by the party to oust him through the backdoor as unnecessary.

In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, signed by Sani Musa Mairiga, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Press Affairs, Al-makura said this was not the first time such impeachment plots were conceived against him but  that he was able to weather the storm because of his leadership qualities and proven accountability.

Al-makura said he remained unshaken and would continue to discharge his duties diligently without fear or favour.

“Some people are not happy with the way and manner we are running the affairs of Nasarawa state because of the high level of financial discipline and prudence in the management of the state’s resources which allegedly made some elites and power brokers uncomfortable” he stated.

He disclosed that some power brokers want public funds meant for service delivery shared at the expense of the masses who have been forgotten and are wallowing in abject poverty and deprivation.

The governor said he was duty bound to deliver good governance to everyone without discrimination, even to people from other political parties.

Al-makura urged the people of the state to remain resolute in the face of this unwarranted and unethical impeachment plot while also appealing to them to be their brother’s keepers and to continue to live in peace with one another.
