From Ali Abare Abubakar, Lafia
The Nasarawa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday cautioned members of the state House of assembly over their alleged threat to impeach Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura.
There are allegations going round in the state that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, controlled state house of assembly has concluded plans to impeach the state governor.
State chairman of the APC, Philips Tatari Shekwo, at the weekend, gave the caution in Lafia, the state capital, when addressing a news conference, even as he warned that “the party would not stand by and watch a few individuals throw the state in another round of chaos.”
He added that the party is concerned and wondered why the Nasarawa state House of assembly would embark on such an unpatriotic and ill-motivated exercise at this time when efforts are being made towards consolidating on the harmonious coexistence amongst the people of the state.
“This is the eight times that this same assembly is threatening to impeach Governor Al-makura on trumped up charges. At each of these attempts, they have evolved the tactics of name dropping; especially of the presidency” Shekwo said.
He said the party would not be intimidated by this frivolous, mischievous and baseless exercise that cannot benefit the good people of Nasarawa state that they, the lawmakers, are supposed to represent.
