Following the escalation of insecurity that led to the killing of several military personnel in Niger state, governor Mohammed Umar Bago has resolved to dialogue and negotiate with the bandits to end security challenges confronting the state.
Bago gave the assurance during the flag off ceremony of the distribution of improved seedlings, fertilizers, and farm inputs at the trade fair complex in Minna.
He maintained that the farmers especially the youths should embrace farming to earn their living without fear of attack by the bandits terrorizing the farmers over the years.
He said step for dialogue and negotiations will be adopted to end attacks.
However, the intending policy of governor Mohammed Umar Bago has received reaction and condemnations sighting examples of his predecessor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello who tried such model and regretted just as the North East state governors failed in the same regards.
Concerned Nigerlites at the venue in an interview condemned in strong terms such moves to hide under insecurity to indirectly empower the bandits with funds to acquire more sophisticated weapons to carryout their nefarious activities unabated.
According to them, although they spoke on the condition of anonymity told our Correspondent that other strategic options should be abducted rather than trading the path of failure.
