To ensure a hitch free conclusion of gubernatorial election in Adamawa State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has distributed sensitive materials to affected areas, for the conduct of the supplementary elections in the state.
Recall that 69 polling units were affected in the earlier declared inconclusive election by the electoral body conducted on the 18th March.
Also, the declaration of the March 18th governorship election received wide spread criticism especially from the PDP which claimed that the incumbent governor, Ahmadu Fintiri ought to have been declared winner of the election.
Distributing the materials at the INEC headquarters in Yola yesterday the Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC), Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari pledged to conducting a free, fair and credible exercise.
Ari however, appealed to the potential voters and politicians to cooperate with the INEC officials with a view to witnessing a hitch free conduct devoid of friction and rancour.
He stated that all machinery have been put in place by INEC to ensure the completion of the supplementary polls in the state.
“I want to assure all the political parties and the people of Adamawa state especially the voters that their votes will count during the exercise”, he stressed.
Similarly, two National Commissioners of INEC from the North West sub region, Professor Abdullahi Zuru and his counterparts from the North East, Dr Baba Bila are to jointly supervise the exercise.
