INEC inuagurates c’ttee on permanent voters card distribution

Niger state Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has inuagurated an 11 man committee for the Inter-Agency Advisory Committee on the distribution of permanent voters card and continuous voter registration in Niger state.

Inuagurating the Committee at INEC office in Minna yesterday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Emmanuel Onucheyo, said that the committee was mandated to draw a road map in order to have an effective Voter Education and Publicity Programme in the state devoid of any hitches.

Onucheyo urged the members to make use of their respective experiences and professional background to ensure the attainment of the set goals, stressing that the committee will determine the exact content of programme, promotion mechanisms, strategic places of implementation and precise target audience.

He commended the state government for it effort in contributing to the membership, adding that Niger state was at the third phase of the programme schduled to commence its distribution of permanent Voter Cards (PVC) from Friday 22nd August, 2014 – Sunday 24th August, 2014 while the Continious Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will begin on Thursday 28th August, 2014 and end 31st August,2014.

He therefore directed all the committee members to fully engage stakeholders at the local government levels, like the security agencies, NYSC, traditional rulers in order to have full coverage of the exercise in the state.
