INEC not planning to destroy over 6 million uncollected PVCs

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has dismissed claim that it is contemplating the destruction of over six million uncollected permanent voters’ cards (PVCs).

The Prof Mahmood Yakubu -led INEC categorically described the report as incorrect.

The Commission, in its verified X-handle, explained that at no time did it (the Commission) contemplate the destruction of uncollected PVCs. It advised the public to countenance the said report.

According to INEC, “Our attention has been drawn to a newspaper report that the Commission is contemplating the destruction of over six million uncollected Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) going back to the 2015 voter registration.

“The report is incorrect. At no time did the Commission contemplate the destruction of uncollected PVCs.

“The public is advised to countenance the story”, it concluded.
